Nintendo wii video cutting out

My nintendo wii's video cuts in an out, sometimes it flickers or tears, other times it goes black completely. I thought it was the cable so I got a new one but it's still doing it. I noticed when you unplug the cable the wii side connector has some contacts like a usb device or old cartridges. Do those ever wear out or need cleaning? I couldn't find anything online about this.

Yes the connections may be going. Try it with another TV, if it does the same thing and you tried another cable then it's the Wii video port that's the issue.

I just bought a used one with no cables for $20. Used ones are so cheap, it makes any repair too expensive.

Have you tried on another TV, or even on other Ports on the TV? If the problem still happens, try to clean out the port on the Wii. If that still doesn't work, I would suggest seeing if Nintendo or a 3rd party solution could see if it may be an issue on the inside on the console.
