So i assembled my first pc and when i tried turning it on it wouldnt boot, i tried testing the components and later found that i had just received a motherboard that was DOA, so now ive got to remove all the components but the cpu and its thermal paste are a problem. Can i use nitromethane to clear the remaining thermal paste from my cpu? It would also be nice if you were to list instructions on how i would go about this process (cleaning the cpu and cooler)
*if it makes a difference, im using the stock cooler that came with the i5 6500*

Use running alcohol to remove thermal paste. Dab it on a lint free cloth and gently rub the IHS until the paste is gone. I've used paper towel as well instead of a cloth, but just be careful in case pieces of it get stuck in it, as it will affect cooling performance.
