No 1440p option with 4k monitor.

I recently bought an Acer XB280HK monitor, or an Acer Predator 4k or whatever they're calling it. It runs off 2x GTX 980s connected by displayport.

Upgrading to 4k looks great, but I play a lot of games and some don't scale their UIs up with the resolution, so they're tiny and awkward (like WoT and EUIV).

But, the next resolution down from 4k is 2048x1536 (which obviously isn't even a 16:9 resolution), there's no 2560x1440 resolution between those, and I can't run 1440p resolutions in any games. I can run at 1080p but after upgrading my 22" monitor to a 28" monitor, 1080p looks markedly worse.

Why can't I get 1440p? My Nvidia drivers are up to date, it's not hidden under customised resolutions or anything, is there some stupid reason my monitor cannot run this resolution?

Thanks

Good luck.

I've only tried with WoT, and I did try 1080p, but I think 1440p is better than 1080p so far. It's a big difference though and 1080p on 28"s is a bit shitty.

I'll try it a while more and see, I've only encountered the issue with WoT and EUIV so far and I'm not exactly dying for clarity in EUIV, but WoT is different. I've actually been quite pleased by the number of games that properly support UHD, considering I'm using windows 7 which effectively does not (you can scale up the text but that's all). But yeah, 1440p vs 1080p, it's difficult to decide between them really. I feel like 1080p is more consistent, but it's consistently and obviously worse. Or I can just go 4k, which has the issues of having a miniscule UI and without multi GPU support only average fps of ~50.

Oh well, I'm sure a patch or mod eventually will fix it.
