[SOLVED] no 1920 x 1080 despite up to date drivers

no 1920 x 1080 despite up to date drivers

all was fine yesterday but when i booted up today my resolution is stuck at 1024 x 764
iv'e tried to up date my driver, uninstall and update then and roll back to a older version but still no luck. i know my monitor is fine as it is tells me to switch to 1920 when i boot up (and the text box is the correct resolution) any idea what to do im going crazy here

windows 10
gtx 660

Try using DDU to uninstall the gpu driver completely and install the latest driver for your GPU.

uninstalled with DDU and re installed with no luck though still cant change the resolution

I checked for some older post regarding the same issue, I'm quoting a guy who managed to fix the same issue

"I found a whole section on the NVIDIA Settings, which I had never noticed before. I discovered that the video card was set for TV resolution only; and that must have been a default setting when the application updated. I unchecked the box for RV resolution only, and now all of the screen resolutions are available. "

He's probably talking about the nvidia control panel

You should also find there a check box called "enable resolutions not exposed by the display" at the Nvidia Control Panel, make sure that check box is off

cant find any option like that went through all of the tabs, it looks like its identifying my screen as a PC screen?

have you tried taking that video card out and using the on-board video output of your motherboard to see if the problem persist, it could be a monitor issue if the issue is the same with the onboard, if it isn't, it is possible your video card is borked.

i'll try, allthough the costume resolution maed it into a 1920 x 1080 so it seems to be working

but now th text is super small and something about the image semms off. like the edges of the text are jagged? or as if the AA was turend of

found the enable resolution not exposed by display box in costume resolution but i doesnt help much (it was allready ticked), tried setting up a costume 1920 res which semi worked, atleast its 1920 now but the image seems distorted, text is kinda jagged and something just seems of, all text is also way to small

I am having the same exact problem with my monitor. It is a GN246HL acer monitor and Geforce GTX960 GPU.... So annoying
