No 6 pin connector?

I have recently ordered a Gigabyte GTX 750, and I started to poke around my pc just to see where all my stuff is. I took out my old gpu (Nvidia GeForce Gt 610 Zotac zone edition 1gb, 64 bit, ddr3) and I noticed that it doesn't even have power coming from the psu, and that it is only connected to the pcie x16 slot. I was wondering If I have to get a whole new power supply or if there is something I am missing. Thanks for your time and help.

GTX 1050, an entry level card, is about 80% faster than a 750. The GTX 750 should just be sent back. It's not good in 2018.

You need a new PSU for a GTX 1050 or GTX 750. Neither of them require PCIe power connectors (unless it's an OC edition) though although most PSU in the wattage range you want will have one. EVGAB 500W would be a nice pick. 400W or 430W even would do.
your GT610 will not have any external power connectors on it, that goes for gt630 as well. This is because those are not "Performance" graphics cards, they are somewhat basic graphics cards. the PCI-E slot that the graphics card plugs into provides (generally) about 75Watts of power to the card, which is more than enough to run something low end. I think most of the GTX750s do not require extra connectors, the 750ti 1gb version mostly do not require external power. the GTX750ti 2gb need external 6 pin power. So it depends on what you ordered, but eitherway, assuming age of your PC (your 6 series GPU), then you would likely have a 6pin connector on your PSU, although it is just not in use right now, you have to look at wiring output from PSU and find it. If this is a prebuilt system, then I would say your chances are slim of having that 6pin connector. Eitherway, a decent PSU to power a GTX750ti would run you only around 30-40$.

Another thing, i'm not sure if you are talking about gtx750 or gtx750ti... as for today, you really have to TRY and get a 2gb vram gpu, anything lower than that is just not up to the task for today. I assume you live outside of USA that's why you bought 750 new?

There exist molex to 6-pin PCI-E adapters. They take 2 4 pin Molex and convert to 1 6-pin PCI-E. you should be able to purchase for a couple bux. it would be nice to know what the specs are on your PSU so we can make sure it will support the graphics card.... although 750 doesn't consume much power, probably less than 150 watts max.

The GTX 750 that I purchased was labeled as 2gb. It is not a TI, but I don't believe that there were 2 gb versions that weren't a TI so I won't be surprised if it was wrongly labeled and comes as a 1 gb. The pictures show that it does require a 6 pin power connector, so I will likely have to get a new psu. My current psu has no other ports for any more cables including molexs.

Edit: I am from the USA, and the 750 that I bought was used. I bought it for around $80. Since it is so cheap, I will not be upset if it does not work. Is there any danger that it will somehow destroy my motherboard?

My psu is a 300w (I'm not sure of the brand, but it is the original that came with the pc.) I have read a couple forums that the suggested for a 750 is 400w, but the requirement is 300w. I was planning on updating my psu sometime anyway, but I may have to sooner than expected. As for the Molex's, there are none in my psu and there are no other slots for a molex to connect to anyways

Your current PSU will meet the need. While I don't normally recommend them, in the case of a GTX 750, I would be okay with using a Molex to PCIe adapter. The GTX 750 just does not consume that much power.

Of course, a better quality PSU is always better, but you can use what you have for now (with said adapter).

a used GPU... you could have done much better with local ads 🙁 easily a GTX670 or in some cases if lucky an AMD 7970, but okay, you got to do with what you picked up.

don't worry about yoru motherboard, but if you saw the 6pin connectors, best off to get a power supply that can support the card, if you are willing to sacrifice "quality", you could even get one for 25$ or so.

My current psu only has a p3 and p4 cable hanging from it. I will just have to get a new psu. Now that I am getting a new psu I may as well get a different gpu. Probably a 1050 or so
