Hi all,

TLDR:
I unplugged the ADSL cable from my old router, and put it firmly into my new router.
The new router 'WAN' LED does not light up = No internet connection.
When plugging back in the old router, the internet continues working absolutely fine.
Wth?

Also:
The layout is a splitter plugged into the phone socket in the wall. From the splitter, the ADSL cable plugs into router, and a phone cable plugs into the phone.
]When the ADSL cable is plugged into the new router, we cannot use the landline phone...?

Additional details:

  • Connecting the new router via PPPoE (Also instructed to by my ISP 'Plusnet')
Broadband username and password are correct (Also verified by my ISP)
I have done a factory reset of the router
I am connecting to the router with a Win 7 laptop via Ethernet
    VPN has been disabled
Tried connecting via android phone but same result

Does the router need returning?

If further information is required, please ask.

Any help with this would be appreciated, thanks :)

Does the land line also work when the old router is used? (I believe that your answer will be yes but just wish to ensure that I am correct.)

If yes, then I think that would eliminate a splitter problem.

You will probably need to exchange the router.

Someone may have some additional suggestions specific to that router.

Thanks for your reply :)

You were correct, it does work.

Called ASUS and they suggested an exchange so I'm doing that.

Cheers
