No audio from Optical Audio port on motherboard

Hello,
A while ago I bought an SMSL SD-793ii headphone amp and Dac, however recently it stopped recieving an audio signal. I purchased a new audio cable however that has not fixed the problem. Does anybody know what might be causing this?
