No audio from output jack

Hi my name is David and i had perfect sound on my laptop until i went and connected a speaker to an existing speaker. Now i cant receive audio from the output jack, just want to know if i burned something due to my stupidity.


I know i did something wrong so before i go and being stupid again and go and give out money, i need help...

I can't imagine anything is physically wrong with the jack; its just a dumb analog output port...

First off, check the control panel -> Sounds tab and make sure that the correct audio output device is selected. After that, try playing back audio, and check if the green volume indicator is moving next to the selected device [to make sure the OS is at least giving the sound chip the data].
