Hey guys,

about a week ago I suddenly lost all of my audio capabilities on my Windows 10 machine. So far i failed in restoring any of them and to be honest im out of ides. I tried everything I could think of and looked at many forum threads. Everything didnt help.

What I tried (and remember):
  • Un- and Reinstalling all Audio Drivers
  • SFC \Scannow
  • Audio over HDMI (Also not working)
  • Seperate USB Sound Card form Headset (Also not working)
  • DriverPack
  • Realtek Driver From MB Manufacturer site (MB: Asus Z97-C)
  • Windows Audio Troubleshooter
After the first tries I suspected a hardware failure and decided to install a portable version of linus on an USB stick. When booting over linux all audio functionality worked as expected.

If you have any idea what I can try without reinstalling windows I would be happy to try it out.

Thank you :)
The current BIOS Version is 2.16.1240 and Windows is running on Version 21H2 (no new updates are in windows update). Headset Model shouldnt matter since I tried it with multiple 3.5mm headsets and speakers. Furthermore I tried it with an external USB Soundcard which is also not shown in audio devices but is being recognized and shown under bluetooth and other devices as a speaker.
