I don't know where to post this so I posted it here.

Ok the problem is my speaker icon is saying no audio output device is installed.

This happened after yesterday I got a blue screen ( which has been happening for quite some time) so my computer reboots and my acer monitor gets a "input not supported" so I restart the machine again ( which is how i usually fix this) and my PC runs into a "diagnosing PC" messaged followed by the " fixing driver errors this may take more than an hour" I let this run all night.

I come back and my PC works, but my speaker icon has a red x over it and says the "no audio output device is installed"

I go to device manager and nothing is there. even display hidden stuff and still don't see realtek. I tried installing realtek from device manager. I tried updating realtek. I tried system restore.

In device manager my "high definition audio bus" have an triangle with an exclamation point on them. So i tried updating them and nothing. O yeah, I tried opening the actual realtek program and it wouldn't even open.

Any ideas? I am ordering a new hard drive and should I just throw a new mobo in with it? Because i can't seem to find anywhere to fix this. I was just happy that I got everything stored on my other hard drive

Side note: Hard drives. is an SSHD worth it for gaming? I don't know if I want to commit and go for an SSD any ideas on a good hard drive that can be used for gaming? Don't know if an SSD would really boost my system anymore

Well to get ddr4 you would have to upgrade your motherboard and cpu to either intel skylake or X99. Do you need more ram? If your just a gamer 8gb is still enough for any game currently out.

Yeah I really have no idea what happened. Never seen that before I have the same motherboard and I dont even have a "realtek high definition bus" in device manager. I would inspect your motherboard first for any burn marks from a short or something near the soundcard which should be right behind the rear audio jacks on the mobo, to make sure its not a hardware issue before you go and reinstall the OS.

What motherboard do you have? I would use device manager do delete the audio driver all together and download a new one from your mobo vendors website.

I dont think an SSHD would be worth it for gaming most only have say 8 or 16gb of flash storage the way I understand it is that 8 or 16gb of flash is used to store programs you use most often say your browser or Microsoft word or something it also helps the OS boot faster however most games far exceed 16gb so I would think your games would be stored on the hard drive portion of the drive and it wouldn't help at all, at least I think thats how it works not entirely sure.

As far as an SSD I love mine I could never go back to a HDD after using one however if your looking to improve say fps in games an SSD wont do that, the most it will do for your games is decrease load times and possibly in some games help with texture pop in.

How do I delete my audio driver all together when I won't show up in the device manager?

Go to this link, choose your OS, and download the realtek audio driver and install it. Not sure what happened to the original driver, but this is the first thing I would try let me know if it still doesn't work.

Ok trying it now.

On the side though, if I were to want to get new ram what would your opinion be.
I have two 4gb x2 DDR3

Is it worth it now to upgrade to DDR4 getting a new mobo? Or should I just get extra ddr3? and it's 240 DIMM that is compatabily with the mobo right? this is coming from pc parts picker
I have a fx-8350, r9 280 series

sorry it's a bit clusteredfucked my question im trying to fix this audio and wonder if its worth it to upgrade my motherboard

Doing that has failed to fix the problem. Under device manager no audio shows up, i guess the only solution will be to do a complete reinstall of windows. I'm running a sfc /scannow to see if that will fix it
