No audio output on Samsung Smart TV and want to use philips wireless headphones

Hi,

I recently bought a pair of Philips wireless headphones thinking it would be simple to hookup.

I cannot find an audio output and my optical/audio output goes to my surround sound. I have spoken to a couple of people who advised that audio outputs are rarely on TVs anymore.

I went to a specialty store and there seems to be no simple solution.

I am far from tech savvy but was hoping someone could advise on solutions.

I dont care how but all I want to be able to do is listen to my TV through wireless headphones.

Can anyone help?

What surround sound do have? do you have a receiver? Does it have a headphone jack on it?

Yes, surround sound has a jack and it works but was hoping I could set it up without having to plug it in and out when I want to use the headphones.

Unless the surround system has a monitor out RCA jacks or whatever, then probably not.

Has optical in and out as well as RCA and then you could use a RCA to 3.5mm jack for the headphones. It is a passthrough device so it will pass the optical from the tv to the surround sound and also output over the rca.

there are many devices like this, just look for optical in and out passthrough and simultaneous rca output. this was just my first google search to show such products exist.

It sounds like you do have an optical audio out on the TV but are using it. If you split that output

and connect one output to the surround system and the other to the headphone transmitter you are good. If the headphones don't have optical intput you will need one of these

too. You need one that is compatible with a 5.1 channel output. Many will only handle 2 channel input.

The answer is a low cost £5 Digital to Analogue converter off Ebay Optical Toslink input. Mini-jack and RCA stereo output. Power from a 5V USB. Mine drives a Technics AV and/or Sennhieser RS180 wireless headphones. I used 3M douuble sided to fix it behind the TV. Works fine.
