For about the last year, on and off I have been trying to fix this problem with no success. Basically, no audio is playing through my 3.5mm jacks, yet audio works with my wireless headset which connects through a usb dongle. When plugging in headphones/ speakers, they are recognised- and I set them as defult devices, but I only hear a faint white noise when I put them on. Not sure if it is a hardware issue as I have an inbuilt soundcard on my motherboard.
What i've tried:
-reinstalling audio drivers (realtek. uninstalling previous ones beforehand, rebooting after)
-using defult windows drivers instead
-disabling audio effects in properties
-ensuring speakers and headphones are functioning (work with other devices)
-ensuring all volume sliders are up
-enabled device is showing as playback and is enabled.
Specs:
amd fx-8370 @ 4GHz
16gb Ram
64bit win 10
Asus m5a99x evo r2.0
xfx r9 290x
2tb hard drive
500gb ssd
