Hey guys,

I recently bought an Philips 274e5qhsb monitor. I use windows 8 operating system. My monitor is connected through a hdmi cable. The problem is that if a play a music sound or video there is no audio. I've tried to buy different hdmi cables but none of them seem to be working. So im thinking it can be a windows problem but im not sure. If I go to nvidia control panel and set up the audio device it says the audio goes through the philips monitor. The only other option it gives is disabling the audio. Also on the standard audio control panel of windows I tried to enable/disable several icon and test windows sounds. The strange thing is that if I play music it shows green up and down like if you normally connect like a headphone.
I read somewhere on the internet you can let windows playback audio. But this option is no way to be found. Is there a way I can hear sound through the internal stereo boxes of my monitor? My drivers are all up to date.

Solution
Make sure you select the playbackj device that list HDMI on it. You will have at least 2 HD audio playback devices (one for the soundcard, 1 for the gpu/hdmi)
