Can't seem to enable the Sound/ Win 7
Win Troubleshooting does not fix it
Icon in the Taskbar Naturally has an X in the Speaker Icon-"No Audio Devices are Installed" when I check in the "Sounds" Tab
IN Bios it shows:"onboard AC'97 Audio"
By default it is "auto"... I've tried to "disable" it- then "enable" it- and "Auto" again.. NO change
I also see that there's a Cable which say:"SPKMIC" with 9 holes for pins (and one that is not open for a pin)- that isn't connected to the M.B. - Which comes from the Front Area of the Tower (and there are Ports for the Audio and Mic in the Front of the Tower) .
I did try one possible place to plug it into the MB-that it might go- though the pins in the MB, and holes in the Connector were Not an Exact match- it was able to plug in- but made no difference.
But, I would think that the Ports in the back of the MB should still work - even if that cable wasn't plugged in?!
I tried a Sound Card in the PCMI slots and it does work with that- but it would be nice to have it working with the onboard - and perhaps the front ports... which might work if the cable was plugged in.
Device Manager shows NO Audio or Multimedia- that I'm aware of - nor does "Scan for hardware changes" make any difference.
"Device Manager" If I click "Action >add legacy hardware> Search > Install Hardware Automatically>-Sound, Video and game controllers"...
I see nothing for AC Audio...
Under "Manufacturer" There is "Creative Tech. Ltd".. The only "Models" to select under that - just "Unsupported Game Port for Creative" to choose.. ( and I'm not sure these are even the right categories?) But I've tried that and it didn't help!
Device Manager>Action > Add Legacy Hardware>Manual Search= yields the same results I believe.
I tried to post "Pictures" - but I'm not sure how to- with this pop up window "Script Prompt, URL"?
