No Automatic Powerdown

When I have two 1GB sticks of Kingston memory (KHX6400D2LLK2/2GN)(PC2-6400 CL4 240-Pin DIMM) installed, PC powers off automatically when I do a shutdown.

When I have four 1GB sticks of above Kingston memory installed, PC will not automatically power off when I do a shutdown. Shutdown process appears to complete OK, but power continues and PC hangs. I then have to push power button on front of PC to power off.

All 4 memory sticks are same KINGSTON model as noted above: KHX6400D2LLK2/2GN (PC2-6400 CL4 240-Pin DIMM). These sticks are supposed to be compatible with motherboard.

I have tried reseating memory, switching sticks between DIMM slots, clearing CMOS, reinstalling F4 bios, unplugging/uninstalling and reinstalling/replugging in removable hardware and cables, and reinstalling VISTA 32 bit version 3 times.

With either 2 sticks or 4 sticks installed, system boots fine and shows either 2GB or 3.25GB of RAM available and Installed Memory either 2000MB (2 sticks) or 4095MB (4sticks). I have tried pairing all 4 memory sticks in a 2GB / 2 DIMM configuration. All 4 worked fine in that configuration and system powered off automatically when shutdown. So I don't believe it's an issue of bad memory.

During post with all 4 sticks installed, one message that appears:
"SLI-Ready Memory Detected-Disable, 4 DIMMS Not Supported"

What exactly does this message mean? Is it related to my powerdown problem with four 1GB sticks installed? Can it be corrected with a bios setting? I looked for a DIMM bios parameter I could change, but other than voltage options, I didn't see anything. Perhaps I missed something. A good number of bios settings are still a mystery to me.

Yes, I can run PC on 2GB of memory, but would rather have system automatically power off with all four KINGSTON 1GB sticks installed, without me having to push front power switch.

Don't worry about this. I believe it just means that while your DIMMs have the info needed for SLI/EPP "automatic" overclocking, that automatic overclocking system doesn't support 4 DIMMs, and so has not been enabled.

Installing a full 4 DIMMs is pushing the limits of many standard desktop motherboards. First, download and run memtest86+ just to make sure the memory is working properly. After that, I would contact your MB's tech support for assistance.
