Hi Freinds

I have been using a z170 - e motherboard for five years or more. Consistantly. One nigh heard the computer bot for updates then rebooting quicly fives. By the time O got to the screen it was stuck on a splash page with error about shutting off to protect cpu or motherboard from Power surge.

I shut it off. Next rngin I find it wont power up at all. ! no life at all. SO PSu gainI guessed. I too ou the hHd to another machine at the hhd boltted to a desktop page ! yes. !

Put i back in the fried computer and realized i could use the other computers PSU. I did so and the fried computer started. Case fans, CPU Fans running. ok! BUt I could never get an image.

I dont remember if I used mobo vga or graphics Card. I think it was graphic s card only. I assumed a daed mobo and purchased a new USED duplicate z170 asus on ebay. I came with anti static bag and plastic cover on the cpu. Very nice. I transferred my old Cpu and installed the new MB. I should; have Bread boarded the board .

I get the same performance on the new mobo as I did the old fried mobo. No after reading and getting some education,.. have some trouble. I have install all my parts inside a old HP desktop case. The front USB ports work . But I have never used the front speaker.

I tested both front and rear speaker ports marked with the head phone icon. BUt no beep post sounds. I dont know if I have the ability to make POST beep sounds or not. The Unit will power on with CPU and no ram installed. Also did one stick of memory / But From there Im lost.

thx
lawrence

Just dont want to keep buying parts on now suspecting CPU when its memory. I have no other compatible machine to part test in.

Any ideas?

Hi Friends
So have the machine built back to operating condition. from a power supply surge. I have suspected a hard drive problem. I have placed the drive in a donor machine and was able to boot to a desktop screen easy peasy.

But placed in the original machine with a new USED mobo i cant get past a windows boot.

I can get into the biios and configure a CD drive boot . but the boot wont grab with my original w7 pro ISO disk.

I get this error and it loops forever. Starts the windows Graphic icon with animation .freezes..then go to error checking and repeat !

Should I place in to the doner windows home machine and see if I can load the DVD.?

any ideas?
