I just "upgraded" my ASUS M5A97 2.0 (which has run perfectly for 5 years) to a new AMD processor. It had an AMD FX 6300. Based on advice from this excellent forum, I finally bit the bullet and bought an AMD 8350. I simple removed the old processor and installed the new one. Result - NADA. - no video - no beeps - NADA. I quickly reinstalled the 6300 but the results are the same. I know it's something I did - but I have no idea what it is. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

OK - I have it fixed and boy do I feel stupid. It turns out my MB doesn't have a POST speaker. I could never have heard any beeps until I installed the little speaker which I did. My new chip and motherboard reported a bad video card. How could that be? It was an expensive ASUS board I bought about three years ago. Nevertheless I bought another Radeon board - installed it and Voila! - I had video. Thanks to Jay for providing some insight. I hope this helps another reader!
