Tuf Gaming X570 Plus with latest BIOS, Ryzen 5600x, recent clean Win 11 install to 970 EVO Plus NVMe has been 100% stable.

This morning I created fresh recover/ restore tools on bootable flash drive and DVD. And then, on the belt + suspenders + overalls principle, used AOMEI to clone the NVMe boot drive to an old SATA SSD in my USB 3.1 dock, as I used to do with a HDD I could swap in. Win storage mgmt showed it as a non - bootable (natch) duplicate. I should have ejected it then but (HEY, IT WAS EARLY) restarted with the clone still attached... And got no first bios text from my GPU, no second one from AMI, despite F1/del' ing madly.

Power down, remove clone from dock, power up: again, neither text nor UEFI BIOS setup.

Power down, clear RTC, again: nothing.

Suggestions?

OK, pulling the CMOS battery worked, settings restored, all is good, lesson learned -- I won't try to boot with a cloned boot drive attached again. But as it was non-bootable, I still don't understand why its presence knocked the BIOS for a loop.
