I have an Asus FX505DV-AL120T Gaming laptop.

Upon powering on the laptop, i get a dim lit screen, but nothing proceeds further.

bulb led lights up, charger led flashes (charger is not plugged in)
i can hear fan spin.

i can't access the BIOS screen to trouble shoot.

i have tried, reseating and replacing ram, reseating and replacing with a working hard drive, removing CMOS battery for about 20 minutes.

i haven't been able to test the lcd, as i don't have a HDMI cord at the moment.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to remove both the battery that powers the entire laptop and then the CMOS battery that manages the BIOS settings on the motherboard, to make sure you don't have any power source. Following that, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Reseat the CMOS battery and the ram(s) and then try powering up with only the external power adapter.

Thanks a plenty!

Unfortunately this hasn't resolved my issues. Im on my way to pick up an HDMI cord, so ill test the display, before i proceed.

Ill update the forum shortly!!

Ive now attempted to connect via HDMI to see if it was the display that was causing the issue.

Battery was unplugged from the motherboard. disconnected the display flex cable. turned on the external monitor. connected the HDMI. then turned on the laptop (with only the power supply as power input)

external monitor displays no signal.

i am now completely stumped.

any further troubleshooting? - I may have to get out the multimeter and check for continuity. ill try find a Boardview online that i can follow.
