No BOOT device found and windows horror

My computer experienced all kinds of failures after accidentally turning it off during an update.

Someone in a previous thread suggested replacing the HDD but it continuously failed at installing Windows 10 with the error message "Windows could not update boot configuration."

I tried all kinds of things until finally I installed Windows on the new hard drive with a friend'so computer. It went seamlessly.

Now when I try to start my laptop with the SSD it says Checking Media and then (Fail) and then says "No Boot device found. Press any button to restart."

All devices show up in BIOS as healthy and working including the SSD but Windows Boot Manager doesn't show up in the Boot tab.

Can anyone help?

Go into the bios of your motherboard.
Look for the secure boot option, if you have a Uefi enabled bios you can access it by selecting the advanced menu.
Turn off secure booting.

Your Sata interface mode has, or may of been changed in some way in the bios of the laptop.

You should have two or three options on the type of mode you select for your sata interface.

Sata, Ahci, or Ide mode.

Change the mode setting of the Sata interface in your bios, to one of the other mode settings.
Save the new settings before you exit the bios.
See if windows is found and the booting of windows starts.

Go through all of the modes listed for the sata interface changing one at a time and saving the new settings.
One of the modes should allow windows os to be seen on the drive and begin to boot.

Secure boot mode enabled in the bios prevents any changes from being made to the boot record of the drive.
And why you get the message "Windows could not update boot configuration.".

And why you disable the secure boot option in the bios.

Or it is because the wrong Sata interface mode is selected for the SSD drive via your bios settings of your laptop.

You can't install the OS in a laptop, and then move that drive to your desktop.
The OS needs to be installed int he system where it will live.
