MY STORY
So I built my first system not too long ago (above mentioned) and I installed windows, got all my drivers, etc. New rig was up and running, life was a dream.
THEN one day I come home and try to wake my computer from sleep.... Nothing. Attempts to restart result with boot loop, blank display and a "ticking" sound.

So I eventually bring my computer to a "pro" PC repairman, who informs me the mobo is dead and causing boot loop, ticking sound, and lack of sleep.
SO, I RMA the mobo and wait...

Then I'm contacted by the retailer, and they can't find anything wrong with the motherboard, so they send it back.

I have gotten the board back, I built in on the box, with stock cooler, CPU, video card, and ram and it boots up fine.
So I built it all complete in the case... Nothing again.
I've tried it without the drives plugged in, without case fans running. Double checked plugs, checked for shorts.
Still no display and ticking sound from speaker.
I need your help!

Finally got a working phone again! :bounce:
Turns out it wasn't a hardware problem at all, a bad driver or something tanked the file system, ergo no boot.
Thanks for the help

Update: I stripped the board down to RAM, and the stock cooler, I got POST and BIOS. However, when I either add the video card, or put the noctua cooler on I'm back to nothing.

I tried that with these results:
I can get a POST with stock cooler and 4 sticks of RAM.
No POST as soon as I put on the noctua cooler.
With 2 sticks of RAM AND the noctua cooler I can get POST.
I added the video card to the 2 stick/ noctua setup and got POST.
However, the more parts I add, the longer I wait for post.
The cooler fans will start spinning on power on, then stop, and start spinning again then I get the POST.

I'm thinking maybe power supply?

OK, I'm going to bring it to a friend, he has way more experience than I do at solving this kind of stuff, also more spare parts to swap out, so I'll try the liquid cooler. Will update when I know what's wrong.
Thanks for all the help :)

A late update for those experiencing the same problem, as I fixed the same issue today. My pc (Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H, I5-4690, 4x4GB) was giving almost the exact same symptoms after a fresh win10 install, stuck in a boot loop with a click from the mobo speaker every time it rebooted. Disconnecting everything (no pcie graphics, no power or sata to HDD and SSD, no front panel etc) didn't help either. Taking out all RAM resulted in some beeps, after which I tried with just one stick in the first RAM slot. This would boot - once. So I shifted the RAM over to the second slot, and again, it booted - once. After you shut it down, it would get stuck in the loop again.

What worked for me was re-installing an older version of the Intel chipset drivers from the gigabyte website; it includes a driver for the RAM slots, which might well be the problem. Flashed the BIOS to the newest (same) version as well, just to be safe. Works like a charm now, so my best guess is that windows installs newer, somehow incorrect drivers. Hope this helps someone out there!
