hello!! i guess the title says itself, ive got this computer, some crap ive been trying to setup for the old lady, she got it from her job, the computer was working fine, the only thing they did was they pulled the HDD due to company data ofc.
now, even without an HDD the computer ONLY boots up to this black screen with a blinking underscore. and even with an HDD and an usb with an OS setup on it no matter what buttons i mash, I'm genuinely surprised with this thing.
i
any and all ideas accepted.
i myself work in a computer store, behind on the repair department. and feels awkward not knowing wth is wrong...

Go into your bios settings by pressing the del key.

Have your USB and hard drive connected first.
Go to the boot tab.
Go to the boot priority list
Select the USB drive and move it to the top of that list (select it and press the - or + key)
Select the hard drive and move it to the second spot of that list.

Now go to the advanced tab. If you see USB configuration options, press enter on it. If there is a USB legacy support option, enable it.

Also locate secure boot in your bios and disable that if you have it.

Save settings and reboot with your USB still plugged in.

If it doesn't work, keep pressing the esc key to bring up your boot menu at power on. Press enter on the USB device and proceed with the installation.

the thing is, with or without the HDD with or without an OS
there is no Boot up, it always just shows the black screen with the blinking underscore, no matter
what buttons i press

Go into your bios and locate the sata configuration. Set it to AHCI mode, maybe it will help fix it

Edit:No operating system on that hard drive? Install one onto it by booting from a windows setup CD and install the os on it

I.....can't seem to say this enough times, so....I'm sorry for the Caption....THERE.....IS.....NO.....BOOT, NOR BIOS......JUST BLACK....BLACKNESS, COVERED IN BLACK, WITH A SHROUD OF BLACKNESS...

the motherboard doesn't do anything else, thus ive been wondering, is the motherboard fried or what?

The cmos battery should be taken out (if there is any) from the motherboard and reseated. Do the same for the ram sticks.

Then power it on and hopefully the bios will show up

Otherwise, that motherboard is faulty for sure
