First time builder. Installed all components and was brought to BIOS. I have never been in BIOS before so I did not adjust anything. I just made sure all my components were recognized.

It shows under storage that HDD is on SATA port 1 and blu-ray player is on SATA port 2.

On the boot menu it shows boot option priority 1 is my blu-ray drive and option 2 is my HDD. It also gives me the option for boot OS selection: legacy, uEFI Win8, uEFI Win7. I tried first with the default selection which is legacy and received the "reboot and select proper boot device." I came back and changed the boot OS selection to uEFI Win8. Same thing occured and sometimes would show "no bootable device detected! Reboot and check." However with this uEFI Win8 option enabled it no longer shows any boot option priorities. The field is blank and doesn't show my HDD or blu-ray drive.

I'm not sure what to do next. Hoping its not blu-ray drive. It powers up and shows green light when I insert Windows DVD but then the light goes off about 3 seconds after disc is in.

Components:
Zotac H87-ITX MOBO
I5 4570
Team 8gb (2x4) 1600mhz 1.5 volt
Gemin ll CPU cooler
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
Pioneer BDR-2208 Blu-ray burner
Corsair CX430M PSU
Windows 8 64bit (full version) OEM DVD

Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and use the clear CMOS jumper or remove the CMOS battery for a minute or so).
For booting you need a bootable DVD (like Windows install) inserted in the DVD drive.

The blu- ray drive which is connected to a SATA port turns on when the system power button is pressed. I have had it installed on both the SATA6 and SATA3 header to no avail. It opens when then the eject button is pressed and the green light comes on whenever the system turns on or I open the tray. However it doesn't sound like the drive is spinning up once the tray is closed and then green power light also goes off once the tray is closed. Can this be the cause of the "no bootable device detected?"

Some other things I have tried through my research on this board:

Tried booting with one stick of ram (tried in both slots)
Switched a SATA setting from ACHI to IDE
Tried different SATA ports (SATA6 and SATA3) for the blu-ray drive
Removed CMOS battery and reinstalled 5 min later

I am thoroughly confused being a noob and really don't know what to do next.

It was the Pioneer bdr-2208. I took the DVD drive out of my 7 year old PC and swapped it. Windows loaded on the first attempt. I'm currently updating drivers. Thanks for getting back.
