No CD/DVD disc on windows 7

My dvd drive is detected in Win 7, and had been working normally. Now, it doesn't detect a disc in the drive though the drive still shows in device manager. This happens with DVD movies as well as data discs.

1. Uninstall drive driver in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows reinstall the driver.

Didn't work.

As I said, the drive is OK. It just will not recognize dvd/cd discs. Device manager and explorer both show the drive itself.
