hey everyone:

I'm on Coastal Ruins, TR:TLR, and have got as far as the place where I
need to pry the hook from the wall with the crowbar. however, I don't
have a crowbar. any ideas? I'm starting to think I'll just have to
cheat my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob

It's been a long time since I played TLR, but I seem to recall at
least one level in one game where I had to pull a metal bar off of a
grate or something to create a crowbar. Are there any metal gridworks
around you could try pulling at? Failing that, I also have a memory of
picking up a crowbar sitting at the bottom of a pool, but I think that
was TR3 Gold...

In order to get there you must have completed desert railroad - you picked
up and used the crowbar on that level surely? You need it to complete it
anyhow 😉 Are you sure you don't have it?

"Are you sure you don't have it?"

positive. however, I seem to remember cheating my way through Desert
Railroad near the end, as I didn't want to go back and get the crowbar
and I needed it for something. It seemed to be near the end so I
thought it wouldn't matter. how wrong I was...

I think I'll have to reload and start again. gaaaah.

I'm afraid that's the problem with TR4 - it's heavily inter-level dependant
(as far as objects and pickups are concerned, switches and opening of
doors/gates in places too!), so the level skip cheat isn't really your
friend in hardly any of it - later on in the game it gets even worse in that
regard.

Ah, well that is a problem with level skipping in TR. If you run into
this sort of problem in future levels, I'd suggest checking out the
walkthroughs. Most of the stopping points in TR games are puzzle-based,
so they'll get you through just as easily as level skipping.

"I'd suggest checking out the walkthroughs."

I'm already a big fan of Stella's walkthroughs. Consider my lesson
learnt.
