I installed a wifi card in my fiancé computer via motherboard pci slot. Now every time she turns it on she gets a message saying "No disk in drive. Please insert a disk in drive D;" only pops up when she first turns the system on. She does not have a cd/DVD drive. Please any help is appreciated.

try running an AV or malwarescan, it might not even be tied to the wifi card and just a coincidence

So this card: http://www.tp-link.com/il/download/TL-WN881ND.html#Driver

It might be cause the driver is only win 8 and Win 10 requires drivers to be signed by Microsoft to work with win 10 and I don't think it would be.

you could look in event viewer, under custom views, admin events (in left column) and see if you can find the event that triggers at each startup and perhaps show details of the event here. There will be lots of warnings and errors as that is normal for event viewer and nothing to worry about. Just figuring out how to stop message might be all we need.

It'sTP-Link N300 Wireless PCI-Express Adapter (TL-WN881ND) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0079XWMEI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_emRdzb38R2745. I checked all startup programs and could not find the culprit. Her old computer had the same wifi card and never had this issue.

Ok I will do that when I get home as I am currently at work for another 4hrs. Honestly I got it for $10 and don't mind buying a new one that is compatible with windows 10. But would downloading a updated driver work? When I get home I'll check the card to make 100% sure the model and then try downloading the latest driver for it. I know it's not a virus as I just built her computer from scratch less then a week ago and all she does is homework, play sims and watch Netflix on it. But I will run a scan to make 100% sure. Can I just use the windows defender or should I download a anti malware and a antivirus?

try malwarebytes as I am not sure how good defender is with malware

curious if error still there if you remove card. narrows it down to something installed with it I would think.

not worth wasting too much time on if replacement is cheap.

Before this wifi card she was using a USB wifi card and never had a issue. I found this one for $10 on Facebook. Ever since popping it in it has that pop up when you first start the computer.

i just ignore it and update it occasionally, my card not new enough to need new drivers every time they make them. They work now, why change them?

windows 10 will update the drivers through windows update anyway if you let it.
