Hi, I bought a zotac gtx 1050 today. My monitor has a vga cable but the ports in card are dvi, hdmi and one other port( i forgot the name). So i had a vga to dvi converter and i used it.Problem is that when i inserted the card into my computer and plugged in the dvi, the screen is blank ,the monitor says that no signal detected.. Note that the card is inserted properly, the fan is running good and upon the start up of the windows, i can hear the start up music..but there is no display and when i remove the graphic card ,dvi converter and insert the vga cable in the built-in cpu port, the display is fine and good. The desktop i am using is hp compaq 6200 pro microtower i5-2500.. the power supply is 320 watt.. Is the power supply problem? if the power supply is the problem why is my computer turning on? what should i do? please help

Solution
Found the solution. Actually my dvi converter was broken thats why it wasn't giving any proper display. So i changed the wired and ka boom, it started working fine. Thanks for the response anyway brothers.

you need an active ( powered ) adapter

Check your BIOS and make sure you have it set to use the PCIe slot as the primary video output. It might be trying to put out through the on board VGA.

I have never had to have an active DVI/VGA adapter. The DVI on a GPU is DVI-I, which can do analog or digital, so it is compatible with VGA as DVI-A and VGA are both basically just RGB connections. Don't waste money on an active adapter. If you were going to buy anything, but a new monitor. You can find one with HDMI or Displayport (that is the other jack you mentioned) for a 100.00 all day long). Adapters can be a bit twitchy, so honestly, if it were me, I would go ahead and invest in the new monitor.

But before you buy anything, check the BIOS setting to make sure that it is using your PCIe slot as your primary video. Most BIOS chips can tell and adjust on their own, but I have ran into a couple that you had to tell it.
