[SOLVED] No display after installing a new gpu

Hello everyone, I just purchased a new graphics card (KFA2 RTX 2070 SUPER) to replace my old one. I have a fairly old computer and componants (it seems to me that it was built a few years ago, but not by me), however I think the graphics card is compatible with my motherboard and I have quite a powerful power supply for this one.

My problem is: I just installed my new graphics card but when I run my pc my graphics card does not provide any image and the CPU error led lights up and it is displayed 04 in qcode (PCH initialization) and then nothing happens.

My specs:
Motherboard: Asustek x99-A (socket 2011)
New gpu: kfa2 rtx 2070 super (powered by 6 pins cable + 8 pins cable)
Old gpu: asus gtx 760 (powered by only a single 8 pins cable)
PSU: https://www.corsair.com/fr/en/Categ...Supply-Units/rm-series-config/p/CP-9020055-EU

I’ve already tried multiple PCI slots and done a clear cmos. I think the problem comes probably from power connections. Moreover with the exactly same configuration the old gpu works perfectly.

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi there,

If you have a 750W PSU, it sounds like power shouldn't be the issue.. I'd recommend plugging the old GPU in and seeing if the PC boots and you get screen output. If everything goes back to normal, I'd go through the process of using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to strip the old GPU driver in preparation for the new card. Once DDU is done, shut the PC down, and re-install the new GPU. Make sure all the PSU cable ends are plugged into the GPU properly and in the correct power rail of the PSU. Try to boot again and see what happens. Hope this helps! :)
Does the cards fans spin up at start up?

Try and clear your CMOS.

Get into windows via integrated graphics. Does the 2070 show up in the device manager? Does it even show up in the BIOS?

Download and run DDU (display Driver Uninstaller), youll have to be in safemode to properly us it and uninstall all the old Nvidia driver son your system. Then try and install the new drivers.

Hello, I didn’t expected get an answer as quickly. I’m not sure about the fans cards I would retry to see and unfortunately I don’t have integrated graphics. Earlier I tried to put my old gpu back it worked perfectly but after retrying to install the new gpu it doesn’t (so I tried to clear cmos and to press the reset button on the motherboard), after writing the topic I tried to put my gpu back again and the same problem happened.

From my previous post, I suggest that you try what is quoted above. It sounds like you were able to get the old GPU running in the system again, so try DDU before installing the new GPU. Hope this helps :)

Does anyone would know why is my motherboard is lighting up the cpu error led and a qcode of 04 even though I put my old configuration back like it was working before? It’s so strange, it happened to me 2 days ago when I received my new gpu but and after it seems to be fixed by itself or maybe it is thanks to some random experiments that I did to fix it.

I will try DDU, but for now it seems that I created another problem by trying to fix my new gpu, that affect my old gpu or my motherboard. Do you think pressing the reset button on my motherboard or doing a clear cmos has unistalled my old gpu’s driver?
