Hey guys i recently upgraded from a MSI 6950 to a sapphire R9 280x and now sometimes when my monitor goes into power saving mode im unable to turn it back up have to physically unplug the dvi cable and plug it in again and then it starts up again. I cant seem to figure out if its a monitor issue or something else. The rest of the specifications are mentioned below

Mobo - Asus sabertooth 990 FX
CPU - AMD FX 8350
PSU - Corsair 700W
8 GB DDR3 G Skill ram
Samsung syncMaster T220 monitor.

I do have my tv also connected to my tv via hdmi, since i have this issue i keep that cable unplugged only. I have since then updated my video card drivers and disabled ULPS thinking it might be the cause of the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have VGA cable or any other dvi cable? It seems like your dvi cable is faulty sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. It is not a matter of graphic card because if it would have been the graphic card you won't get out of the black screen after power saver. Try removing Dvi cable and use HDMI with your tv, go into power saver and see if it comes out of it with HDMI.

ok will try that but this issue is not happening every time the pc goes into sleep it only happens sometimes which is got me confused. I dont have any vga cables or other dvi cables with me to test it. This issue started only after connecting the new video card didnt happen before.

Are you sure graphic card is place properly and the connectors from power supply is firmly connected, Have you changed settings in power options. Also check if pins in dvi cable are bend they might also cause this when you were trying to connect them. I am saying to try with HDMI or any other cable cause sometimes the slots does not function properly or are bad.

yes quite sure everything is connected correctly when i in plug the video cable i get a sound from windows the same you get when a usb is disconnected and when i connect it again it gives the connect noise. Will leave the pc overnight connected to hdmi and remove the dvi and see tomorrow morning to confirm.

ok so i tried out 2 days in a row 1st without the dvi cable and second with the dvi cable and both days there was the same result the monitor came out of standby and works. Im really struggling to figure out whats wrong.
