Hey Guys,

I just received an i5 4690K from eBay to upgrade from an i5 4430 on my ROG Maximus VI Formula. I took out the old CPU and placed in the 4690K, and my PC powered on, but there was no display. I then tried resetting the CMOS, but no luck. I reseated the RAM, same result. I then I put the old CPU back in, and it powered on just fine. I downloaded the latest bios from Asus' website and flashed it with success. I powered the PC back on for conformation on the bios flash. Then I put back in the 4690K, and still a blank screen. Then I cleared the CMOS again. No luck. I put the old CPU back in, and it works perfectly.

Things I've tried so far:

Clearing CMOS
Reseating RAM
Flashing bios
Reinstalling video card (HD 7870)
Booting off onboard graphics
Reconnecting all cables
Trying different power supply

Note that post code remained "00" on all these attempts

Anyone know what the problem could be?

I don't think youre doing anything wrong.

It is possible the cpu is doa. Or the cpu has been excessively/incorrectly overclocked or delidded and the guy stuffed up. Warranty is void / expired and tries to sell it on eBay.

Is the item page still on eBay so i can have a look?

Hopefully you can return it.
