I just bought a second-hand XFX QICK 308 6600 XT from a dealer. I removed my old GTX 960 and install the new card. Things seem ok on the very first boot up but I do notice some strange lags when I switched between windows (like fps drops or something like that). While I was downloading programs and some benchmarking tools, the screen just went dark. I restarted the PC but the display did not come back up.
I tried restarting a couple of times and I noticed that I actually can see the BIOS screen. I also noticed that the GPU actually seems to be working 5-10 seconds after I press the power button. But right after the BIOS screen is gone, the fans just suddenly went off. I also managed to get the BIOS and not seeing any display problems during a couple minutes I check around in the BIOS. But of course display would turn dark right after I exit.
I am suspecting the PSU not having enough wattage, but it seems like my Corsair RM650 should at least get the card to operate under usual condition.
My current system:
- Motherboard: MSI Tomahawk B450 MAX
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: XFX qick 308 RX 6600XT (was using GTX960 for a very long time)
- RAM: 4 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 3600
- I have 2 SSD + 1 HDD but I cannot remember the model precisely. I can check if the info is relevant here. P
lease advise.
