So I have had this problem for quite a while.

Here is the problem:
My gpu would be in the pci-e slot and the hdmi plugged into the monitor and the gpu getting power from the psu. Monitor is black, switch the hdmi to the onboard intel graphics.. Still no display. Remove the gpu from the slot with the hdmi in the mobo and it turns on.

Got a new gpu and having the same peoblem. Is it the pci-e slot that is broken? Or something else. Thanks.

Specs:
i5 4460 3.2Ghz
GTX 1060 gigabyte 3GB (old gpu eas gtx 1050 2GB)
MSI Micro ATX intel lga 1150 h81
HyperX Fury 8 GB DDR3 1866 MHz

My PC worked for about a year now the pci-e seems dead.

I have taken out the battery of the mobo and put it back in to reset it, I cant enter my bios because I dont actually know which button to press because the resolution is weird and hides it.

Just updated the thread.

Thank you, I have the bios open but when I click settings it makes my mouse inviaible and comes up with a black box with hotkey and return arrow next to it.

The bios doesn't let me do anything when I press enter.

No the problem seems to be that the bios is in a weird reaolution. When I select settings a d press enter a little grey box apears with 'UNDO' and a return arrow, can't click anything and the only way for me to do anything is to restart the computer.

I have tried using a different monitor and still have the same problem, is it possible my pci-e slot is dead?

My PSU is corsair VS650 if it helps

A bent pin under the cpu? not touched the motherboard until it suddenly stopped working when a video card was in the pci-e slot.

Ive taken the batyery out and back in, not gotten a replacement one.

Is the weird resolution thing only happens if your GPU is installed?I think the Pci-e slot might be fine since the GPU powers up. it could be some bent pin or pulled solders on the mother board should be worth checking if the Mobo have any physical damage on it.
