Hi,
Iam facing very strange problem.3 days ago light struck somewhere near my house. My lcd tv is not powering on(i think its burnt) which was connected to my pc with HDMI cable.when i turned on my pc,no berps no display on my led which was connected to gpu with DVI.(i have connected 1 23 inch led with dvi and 1 32 inch lcd tv with hdmi).i have checked all my pc parts(gpu, psu, rams) on my friends pc they all worked.even my 23 inch main led(connected with dvi) also worked on my friends pc with dvi and vga cables.
now the problem is his led works on my pc without any problem and played half hour games on it to check if there is problem in gpu,but it worked normal as it was working on my pc(max temp gpu 67c on full load 1100mhz)gpu seems ok.
i also checked my led on friends pc for 3,4 hours if it has some problem but it was also ok.checked all cables, psu, took out mobo and checked,my 23 inch led wont work on my pc.
if i connect both led's (mine and friends) his works mine wont..if iplug out his, mine wont display anything,if i plug out mine, display shows on his.
now another big problem.if i plug gpu in pcie and dont put 8+6 pin connectors in gpu and turn the pc on...no beep no display and gpu fans spins on my mobo.
now i want to know where the problem is?is my mobo fried or gpu fried?
im very upset.:??: please somebody help me..
My Pc specs
Asus Sabertooth x58
i7 950
Sapphire r9 290x trix oc to 1100mhz(no issue with oc,i played half hour games on friends led connected with my pc)
12gig ram
1200 watt psu thermaltake
Cooler master v8 cooler

Yes same power cables...dvi to dvi cable...i also checked his dvi to dvi cable, worked fine,my cable also worked with his monitor....is my gpu short with lightning...becoz my gpu fans run without connected with psu...
yes another thing...keyboard num pad light and mouse light lit when pc turns on

Don't know why this is an issue "now another big problem.if i plug gpu in pcie and dont put 8+6 pin connectors in gpu and turn the pc on...no beep no display and gpu fans spins on my mobo." If youdon't plug in the power cables the video card won't run. In fact you can kill the video card that way.

From what I can sort out from the post, your monitor does not work on your system only but works on his right? Does his monitor work on your system or does nothing work on your system? Do you have onboard video? If you do, remove the video card and try onboard video only. Your motherboard may be bad since you tested just about all the other parts in his computer and they all worked.

my friend has 2 monitors.i connected both in gpu with dvi and they worked fine.my mobo has not onboard vga port.now ihave decided to buy another monitor.i think some of my monitor's dvi port pins got damaged and so that is why its not working on my gpu
