No display on boot

Hi all! I'm desperate for a second (or third, or fourth...) opinion on a problem I've been working on.

My computer was acting up, and finally, over time, the hard drive just failed. I tried everything I could software-wise to fix the situation, but finally came down to needing to pull the drive.

I opened the case, pulled out the drive, and the other old drive that had failed on me a while back, and swapped in a smaller temporary drive, just to get Windows re-installed and maybe do some more diagnostics. I had to remove the RAM during the process.

I then tried to turn the computer on and power came on but no display. I thought it was the monitor, as the cable is a bit questionable on the original monitor, so I tried a new one. New monitor shows "No cable connected" when unplugged and powered on, and a blank screen when connected to the video card.

BREAKDOWN OF RESULT
No display when powered on. No bios, no tests, no anything.
All of the fans run, and the lights on the motherboard come on properly... i.e. green on light only, whenever nothing else connected; with hard drive, red drive access light comes on as well. When RAM is removed and computer booted, I get one long tone ("memory error"). Put RAM back in and no tone, but no display. To me, this indicates that the MoBo is probably still ok.

FURTHER TESTS
I changed from an AGP card to a PCI card, and tried again. Same result.

Then I unplugged all drives and removed all other cards, tried again. Same result.

Re-checked all connections.

Cleared CMOS, no change.

Tried new power supply, no change.

MOBO: Abit KR7A, capacitors all look fine. There is no onboard video card for the mobo.

So, can anyone think of any other tests I can run? Obviously, it may be that the board is just kaput, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it... it doesn't respond (to me) like a board that has gone up.

Thank you all greatly.

*Bump.

Ugh, reminds me of my problem with the piece of $hit A8S-X mobo I just got from an FX-60 TigerDirect deal. Got everything running but wouldn't get a bios. I troubleshot it all freaking night to no avail. I think the mobo has some issue with the PCI bus.
