hello can anyone help me...i'm currently using my video card Nvidia 8600 GT PCI-E card on my first boot... but after i shut down the computer on my second boot... there's no display anymore... the power indicator just blinks.. then after that stops... then the video that is being used now is the onboard video... why does this happen can anyone help ? my video card is working by the way.. fan spins

Solution
check your geforce 8600gt for swollen capacitors or leaking ones, physically examine it for anything that could be wrong with the aging components
I am pretty sure not 100% but your computer will use the on board graphics for movies, videos, normal daily activities and when you do something very GPU intensive like start a game then it will auto swap to using your more powerful card, this feature is there in order to save power.

For more troubleshooting I need to know your exact psu please.

Okay, you may want to buy a new psu first. That will most likely solve your problems, what you have stated also sounds like the gpu just is not getting the juice it needs, it was working okay for a while but once you throttle your cpu, they pull from the same 12v rail, and this is what most likely caused the gpu to cut off is insufficient power, black screens.

i dont think.. i need another psu... because my pc boots just fine but not on the video card... like ive said... when i turn the power on the power indicator will just blink and stops... as it already switched to onboard video... i hate it because i really need to boot from video card for gaming purposes, thanks by the way.

i'm sorry but no... i already tried it but still didn't work... the device that is displayed in the device manager is just my onboard video nvidia geforce 6150se... nothing follows... my graphics card that is not working is nvidia geforce 8600 gt
