Hi, I was wondering If anybody could help me? I have a strange problem with my PC? When my PC has been unplugged (or the PSU is turned off) When I turn my computer back on to use it, I get no display to the screen. The only way I can seem to get the display to work is to turn the PC on and off, with the power button on the front of the PC, until it works at random. This means I have to keep turning my pc on and off anywhere upto 2 to 10 times hoping the display will work. Once I have a display it works fine and even If I restart the PC the display is perfect. The problem only starts again when there has been no power to the PC. It can be very annoying if I need to unplug my PC and then turn it back on! If anybody can help me it would be greatly appreciated. If a solution is found I will post it on this thread! Thank You!

well i hope it works! also if your graphics card came with a DVI-HDMI adapter i would suggest tring that, that would also rule out the port on the graphics card. ( i also own a 7770 and i never had this issue, so i dont think it would have been the drivers... as you said they are up to date) also when you swapped to a different port on the tv did you try a seperate cable aswell? it could be a faulty cable!
It could be that your monitor is in sleep mode/powersaving mode which means it's on just waiting for a signal from your computer to actually turn back on and produce an image. It sounds like it may not be recognizing the "wake up there is signal" message coming from your PC.

An easy fix would be to turn your PC on and if the monitor does not wake up, turn your monitor off and on (less stressful to do that to the monitor than the computer)

Hi, thanks Dom 79 and PandaButtonFTW for your replies!
I am using a LG 50" Plasma TV as my monitor connected to my PC with a 3 meter long HDMI cable. When I have had no display in the past I have tried turning my TV on and off ( whilst the PC is on) and also tried switching through the input settings on the TV but this did not work. I have never tried using a different HDMI cable but will try a different cable to see if there is any difference. Even if I unplug the PC and do not touch the PC or HDMI cable then plug the PC back in once again I get no display? The only way I have found to get the initial display is by turning the PC on and off until It decides to display? I am not ruling out anything and will try all solutions offered! Thank You for your help so far!

can you try with another monitor/tv? if it works fine on another then it could be the hdmi port on your tv? also if you have another hdmi device (media box console blu ray for example) try that with the same hdmi cable and if that works fine, try update your graphics drivers, hopefully one of these will help lol

Hi PandaButtonFTW thanks again for your reply!
I have another TV in the next room that I could try with the PC, but have never tried it as the TV always works fine with any other device.
The 50" LG TV I am using is in very good, new condition! I also use the TV for Sky tv and a DVD player in the other spare HDMI ports and have never had a problem. One thing I will try first as you suggested is to test the HDMI port on the TV. I will swap around the HDMI cables on the back of the TV so the PC is using a different HDMI port and see if this makes a difference!
As for the drivers for my graphics card I updated them within the last 5 months but will check again now to see if there are any newer updates! Thank You!

Update, I have swapped the HDMI cable in the TV to a different port, my PC is running at the moment but when I can turn it off later and disconnect the power to it, I will update this thread to let everybody know if it worked! If not I will try a new HDMI cable! Then if that does not work another TV! Fingers crossed!

Update, I have been reading on the internet to see if anybody has had a similar problem to me. I found an interesting thread. On the LG tv to select which HDMI input is being used you press the input button on your remote. Once in the input menu if you press the blue button on the remote you can select what each HDMI input is used for. So for the HDMI input I am using my PC on I have now changed the selection to a PC input. It has made no difference whilst the PC is running but I am wondering if this could have affected how the TV first sees the PC on first turn on. Again I cant test it till later as my PC is being used at the moment but when I unplug the PC later and Plug it back in I will see if an image is detected on first turn on? fingers crossed! If not back to the drawing board!

Hi, thanks PandaButtonFTW for your help!
I have been moving my PC around today as I fitted a SSD, so have had chance to test it after it has been powered down. On first powering up my PC with drivers checked, TV HDMI ports changed around and TV HDMI port settings changed (as above) first power up the TV did not seem to sense a display, so I pushed the HDMI cable in the PC graphics card carefully in and out a few times and gave my HDMI cable a careful wiggle around incase a cable was loose and on second start up it displayed up fine, working fine on all restarts. I will try source a new cable this week then post my results on here but I think it must be a very minor fault with the cable. I have never lost display quality with this cable and bought it new, but all problems seem to be narrowing down to the cable. If a new cable fixes it I might strip this cable down to have a closer look!
