Question No display port input detected

Hi there,

I'm getting a bit desperate. I just briefly disconnected the DisplayPort cable from my ASUS ROG Swift PG279 monitor and connected it again, as I needed to mount the screen on a monitor arm. I unplugged while both the computer and the monitor were off. All cables are exactly as they were before, but now the monitor suddenly isn't receiving any input from the DisplayPort. I can't figure out why. The following things have been tested:

  • Power disconnected from both PC and monitor for an extended period, no effect.
  • DisplayPort cable moved to another DisplayPort output on the graphics card, doesn't work.
  • DisplayPort cable moved to DisplayPort output on the motherboard, doesn't work.
  • Monitor connected to computer via HDMI instead, works fine.
  • Monitor connected to another computer via the same DisplayPort cable, works fine.
  • Tried a new DisplayPort cable, doesn't work.
  • Another monitor connected to the computer via the same DisplayPort cable, works fine.
Is there some easy fix I'm overlooking? How can something as simple as unplugging and plugging back in cause this much trouble?

Thanks in advance!

full system spec?
where is the hdmi? on the motherboard or the gpu?
Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2070 Super, 8 gb
16 GB Ram

The gpu has 2 displayport outputs and a HDMI output. The MB has an DP and a HDMI output. I used the output on the GPU when testing.

Do you think it'll help to format my PC and reinstall windows? It's absurd to me that I might have to buy a replacement for a monitor I know works, since I've tested it on a another setup with the same displayport cable. I also know that my gpu works, since it has no problem with the DP output on another monitor connected with the same displayport cable.
