No display signal: it's because I did not connect my monitor (VGA) to the gpu or because I damaged something?

Good Afternoon,

I am writing for the first time and I am not an expert regarding computers. Yesterday I built my first pc.
Cpu: Ryzen 1600x
Motherboard: MSI B350 Gaming pro
GPU: MSI Armor RX580
PSU: EVGA 500w.

My monitor has a VGA connector, while my GPU uses HDMI and DVI. When I finished to build everything, I connected the monitor to the motherboard. Fans were working, lights on the motherboard were working, but there was a message on my monitor: no signal. I thought it was because I made mistakes and that I damaged something. Do you think is because I didn't connect the monitor to the GPU? Is this a possibility? If I remove the GPU could it be possible to see if everything works fine?
Thank you for your attention.

Solution
You do not have integrated graphics so connecting to the motherboard will not do anything.

You need an active adapter, HDMI to VGA connected to your GPU. Make sure it's active.

Thank you, I thought there was an integrated graphics in the CPU, but I was wrong.
I ordered an adapter few hours ago! I I hope it will work!

Good luck, let us know how it goes.
