Hey Guys,

I have a new build and on starting up everything seems to be running fine however I'm not getting any signal to my display. The build is as follows:

Motherboard
Gygabyte Z97 Gaming7

CPU
Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 (LGA 1150, 3.40GHz)

RAM
Kingston ValueRAM (4x, 8GB, DDR3-1333, DIMM 240)

GPU
Sapphire R9 270X Toxic 2GB

PSU
Seasonic M12II-520 Evo (520W)

HD
Samsung SSD 830 Series 512GB

- I have tried the system with a different GPU which I know definitely works.
- Seated and unseated all components to make sure they fit properly and checked cables are plugged in properly.
- Removed all RAM modules except one
- Cleaned plugs with compressed air to remove any possible dust/dirt residues
- Tried using different cables already (both DVI & HDMI)

Unfortunately the result was the same, no display signal on startup.

Could the problem be with the Xeon not having any integrated graphic capabilities? Lot's of advice across forums seems to be to update the motherboard BIOS and/or disable the motherboards integrated graphics but how do I do this if I cant get a screen running in the first place?

Any thoughts/help anyone can offer would be most welcome. Many thanks 🙂

Thanks for the swift reply. 🙂

Apologies I should have added that to the post. I have tried using different cables already (both DVI & HDMI) but the problem persisted.

Since you are using a dedicated graphics card then there is no issue with using the Xeon.

Have you made sure you have the 4/8pin cpu connector in?

Have you looked at this write-up:

You sir are a star. 🙂

That did the trick.

I had tried this however I foolishly had the screen plugged into the motherboard display port when I tried it which didn't work for some reason. Doing the same but having the screen attached to the GPU display port worked.

Kind regards & many many thanks
