No Display when installing amd fx 8350

I just bought a AMD fx-8350 CPU and tried to install it onto my ECS A785GM-AD3 MOBO ( http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Overview.aspx?DetailID=1084&CategoryID=1&MenuID=19&LanID=0 ) and im getting no display when i try to boot up my computer. everything seemed to be working correctly other than my screen is completely black when i boot up. im not sure if i need a BIOS update or something. is this CPU even compatible with my motherboard?? what are my options here?

You could definitely get away with something lesser if you are not planning to overclock. Just look for something with listed support for your processor and a heat sink on the VRM.

A cursory Google of "MOBO + CPU" will provide you with any additional information you should need to decide on a particular board.
