[SOLVED] No displayport signal, white light from the mobo

So i bought a new computer for christmas, all parts are new except the psu, 1 ssd and hd. Its been working great so far, just some random restarts which seems to be fixed by disconnecting the 2nd ssd.

Resently however I was messing around with the bios and found out my gpu was connected to a 8x PCie port and my mobo suggested that i connected it to port 1 or 3. I also connected the Usb ports for the front of my case to the mobo, as this was not connected before due to space issues.

Now when i try to boot the screen is all black with the message No displayport and there is a white light on my mobo witch suggests a VGA issue i guess.

I followed the guide, checked all my cables, tried different gpu ports, reset cmos but nothing helps. Sometimes however if I leave the powercable out during the night I am able to get display and get to bios the next morning, unfortunately the bios is reset and it tries to boot from my hd.

Im really stuck here and dont know what else to check, RAM and the gpu seems ok, not sure about the mobo and i read somewhere that it could be the psu.

My speccs
1080ti gpu
Ryzen 5 2600x
Rog strix x470 f gaming mobo
Gskill tridentz 3200mhz 2x 8gb ram
Some older 750W gold psu

It’s fine if your card is in 8x because the card will barely use more bandwidth. But 16x is technically better so let’s get to the bottom of this.
#1 check the CPU and the socket for bends or debris
#2 some mobo/gpu combinations don’t work at 16x (very weird right?)
#3 can you boot while the gpu was in the other slot?
#4 Try to get another PSU from a friend because it might just might be that issue but don’t go buying one, just see if someone has a spare that you can test

Hey, and thank you for your help.

Changing changing PCie lane didnt change much yesterday, but today i think i've made some progress. I changed from the pcie lane 1 to pcie lane 2 (which is the one i used to use) and reset the cmos using the jumper pins, I also changed from displayport to hdmi. Now I actually managed to boot into windows, however the resulution was all messed up and no option to change it either, after 1-2min the screen went black again.. Then I changed to the pcie lane 3, now the white light from the mobo is gone, but its replaced by a green light which according to my manual means "boot" (?) still black screen however.

I checked the CPU and it looks clean aswell, will see if im able to borrow a friends psu to see if thats the issue, however im starting to suspect the 1080ti at this point...

Okay, so im stupid. Using the pcie lane 3 with the green light I forgot ut connect my monitor to the gpu. It now works with both dp and hdmi.

Since lane 1 and 2 appears dead does that mean I have a faulty mobo? Im still able to return it, and im thinking about going sli in a few years

Okey, will do. Just checked what bandwidth the 3lane is running at, and its actually 4x native. Dunno if that limits me much, but i'll check the other lanes nextime im at a friend.

Thanks alot for the help
