Does the webcam device show up in Device Manager? If so, what is it's status?

If it shows up, but indicates a driver issue, you may be able to search for the needed driver via Windows Update. Have you tried this yet?

Even with no driver installed, the webcam should still appear in Device Manager as an unknown device (question-mark symbol against it).

If it's not listed at all in Device Manager and not even shown as "unknown device" with error symbol, then the webcam itself may have packed up. If laptop is out of warranty you'll have to buy an external webcam which plugs in to a USB port.
