No DVI Signal

Hi, just got done building my PC, it was my first time doing it. Plugged everything in, powered it up, all the fans are spinning and the LED for power comes on, CD Drive is functioning, but no signal to monitor. I checked and made sure the DVI cable was secured tightly, and it is. I also tried VGA and that also got no signal.

Any advice?

Do you have another card you can try? It could be the video card.

I just got it to work. However now i am installing windows 7 64 bit, I get to the part where I need to install drivers, and then i hit scan and nothing comes up. What am I doing wrong?

BTW my system:

640GB WD HDD
HIS 4870 1GB ICEQ4
AMD Phenom X3 720 BE
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P
4GB G.Skill DDR3 RAM

also, and sorry im going to sound like a noob here, im unsure how to get my hard drive to be recognized. i go into the setting and hit auto detect for IDE Master 0, and it detects it, but says the capacity is 0MB.
