no e-mail program associated to perform request.... help

I upgraded to 8.1 now I notice that I can not send any attachments with my e-mails.
I use Firefox and now windows 8.1
I also use sympatico as my server and then go to Hotmail or bell mail to pick up my emails

any way this is my message that I now get when I try to send a picture and or an attachment
" There is no email program associated to perform the request action
please install an e-mail program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default program control panel.

Please ensure that a MAPI compatible email application is installed & that there is sufficient disk space. "

My problem is I have no idea what they are asking of me

Do you mean send a file via email by Rt click and 'Send to'?
Then you have to link a Mail Program like Windows Mail or Outlook by selecting it as Default Program. Type 'Default 'at your Start Screen and choose 'Default Programs'
Then 'Set your Default Programs'
Unless you install alternatives, then Windows Mail will be the only one available to you. (You should be able to set it up for Hotmail)
Select 'Mail' then 'Set this Program as Default'
