No Ethernet Drivers w/ 64 bit install disk. Where do I find them?

Hey guys,
I recently put an ssd in my parents old computer for a speed boost and needed to install a new os. I bought a Windows 7 home premium SP1 64 bit system builder OEM dvd and installed it. That worked fine, although once I made it to the desktop I couldn't connect to the internet via ethernet. My device manager had exclamation points next to the ethernet driver and a couple of other things in the same category, saying that there were no drivers on my computer. I delved into the windows disk and couldn't find them, so I went searching online from another computer. I tried the Microsoft website and downloaded a couple of files that seemed to be ethernet drivers but nothing has worked so far. I tried going to the Gateway website to find drivers there but the computer is from 2004-2005 and the model isn't even listed on the site anymore. Any idea as to how I can get my ethernet connection working? I found this just now on the Intel website; Broadcom_LAN_v12.1.59.01_allOS_64bit_PV.exe and plan on trying it when I get home from work but I don't know if that is what I need.

Try a driver from some other reliable source.

go into device manager and find out the make of your ethernet controller.then go to the manufacturers website to find drivers.use a computer with an internet connection to download them to a usb stick to install on your machine.

I'm not at home right now so I don't remember exactly what it said, but I tried doing that. I noticed that the ethernet controller is listed under the category 'Other Devices' , along with the pcie controller I think and something else. Next to Ethernet Controller there is an orange triangle with an exclamation point inside of it, when I mouse over it I am told that there is no ethernet controller installed. When I right click on it and go to properties or whatever to try and figure out the make I cannot find anything helpful.


I just went back to the gateway website and I think I found the drivers for my model. I won't know if they work until I get home in 6 hours but i'll update this if they fail.

The ethernet drivers failed. I downloaded Intel LAN Driver version 11.8.74.0 and my system said that I have no ethernet controller installed. How do I go about installing an ethernet controller or is there anything else I can do? I've been working on this every day for 5 days now, downloading probably between 15 and 20 drivers altogether. None of them have worked so far. I've searched the hardware ID; pci ven_10ec&dev_8168 and have downloaded drivers from Microsoft/Gateway/Intel and this site called DriverIdentifier. I've searched youtube videos as well with no luck. I see people with this problem often now that i'm searching intensively but have not found a solution.

I think it's time for you to simply buy a standard PCIe NIC board and be done with it. It's not that expensive at all.
