Question No Folder found when searching with a name

On this external drive, I have always looked for folders and contents (image/doc/etc...) using search with "Name". It used to work until one day only content files show up but not the folders. My other external drive works ok this way so what problem do I have?

Have you made absolutely sure that the folder/file is still there? You can look for it by sorting the files by name if there are a lot of them. I've never heard of this, but with me, sometimes the searching feature becomes too slow and finds weird stuff instead of what I want it to find.

My sister has a newer Mac, and the external HD has no problem there. I'm beginning to think it might be the computer system is too old. Mac OS 10.4.11.
