the internet is a fantastic mean of communication, but its not meant
for everything!
for games i like the internet to exchange points of view with other
gamers like this group, or read reviews, or get patches and demos
or to see screenshots and trailers of pc games
i don't like and don't use the internet to actually PLAY pc games

as for massively multiplayer online games, i'm against cause we have
already fps games that have solo and multiplayer capabilities in the
same game, so the pc gamer can choose
with massively multiplayer online games you can't choose, you are
dependant on the internet to play and that means more COSTS
massively multiplayer online games are more EXPENSIVE for the gamer
you have to pay monthly fees to the game's developer and to your
internet provider!

for me pc games are a solo experience! i don't need neither i want
the internet to PLAY pc games
massively multiplayer online games means PC GAMES becoming more and
more EXPENSIVE and taking away the FREEDOM we now have
you have lots and lots of FPS that are at the same time singleplayer
games and multiplayer games, so you have CHOICE!
we don't need any change! so any introduction of massive multiplayer
online games is to benefit the developer so they can have even more
control over us and make us pay more for games
massive multiplayer online games for FPS NO!

i should have changed the subject... this way people think
i'm asking for a mmo when it's the other way around!
this one is better, much better and direct:
NO MMO made for FPS
although probably the best is to fight MMO all together

You're an arrogant little tosser aren't you.

Any other types of games that you want to ban?

The same people who stand behind you and make you buy Steam at gunpoint are
obviously also responsible for making you buy MMPORGs with monthly
subscriptions.

All the free MMORPGs presumable escaped your ill-informed attention also.

Sometimes I lose myself in idiotic arguments that are going nowhere,
mistakenly thinking that a heated row or logical debate can sort matters
out.
This is totally impossible with the "fool". If he turns out to be one of the

You seem to enjoy telling people what they should do and what games to
play. It looks like you are the Nazi, not Valve. You do have a choice.
You don't have to play the game. You do not have any right to play any
game. What is the point of a MMORPG is you can't be online? Yes, I know
it is worthless reasoning with you because you are a sick sick sick
sick sick sick sick sick sick sick sick sick sick sick freak.

You must be the dumbest person in the world if you can't see your
frothing hypocricy.

That's like a restaurant in town offering a free meal, and you saying
"ah, but I have to catch a bus to get there, so it isn't free".

Or even "How can the game be free to play? I have to buy a PC first!"

What he meant by the game being "free" is that it costs you nothing
extra to play. No subscription costs for the game itself.

Sometimes you write stuff that makes sense. Other times, like above,
you write nonsense. But I'm a patient guy, so I'll try to explain.

There are single-player games and there are multi-player games. They
are different.

Single-player HL2 is different to multi-player HL2. If you play
multi-player HL2 there is no campaign. No evil baddy to destroy. No
monsters. Just loads of other people running around trying to shoot
you. You do not progress from one area of the city to another. You have
goals like capturing the flag which do not exist in the single-player
game. There is a time limit on the game and you score points. The
winner is the one with most points. It is not Gordon & Alyx vs Combine
troops; it could be you, G man and some combines vs several different
Alyxs.

In a MMORPG, you take part in a constantly evolving game world.
Everything you do affects the world. You can die, and the world will
continue without you. The other people are not predictable
computer-controlled robots - they are controlled by other real people
like yourself. You cannot save the game and replay a section.

My point is that some games are made to be played alone, you vs the
computer. And others are designed to be played online against as many
other people as the server and game world can handle. But they are both
PC games. They appeal to different types of people maybe, but that
means they encourage more people to use the PC as a gaming platform,
because there is a choice of games available.

Also think of this: If a games developer only makes FPS games (single-
and multi-player), then they will make money by selling those games. If
they make a MMO game as well, then they will make more money because a
different set of people will buy the MMO game. All this money goes back
the same developer and they use it to make their next game even better.

MMO games are not restricting choice. They are giving another choice of
game to play. Another reason to use the PC for gaming. They are good
for PC gaming.

its not cause my alias is "say no to steam" that i want gamers to
do what i say, not at all
nobody should tell others what to do, we are in a free society
what i feel important is gamers think about the issues and then
decide
look at steam, the majority of pc gamers buy half-life 2 not knowing
what they are getting into and thinking its a same like any other,
when its not true

valve is telling pc gamers how to buy install and play games NOT ME!
MMO type of games give no choice to us cause you always have to use
the internet to play!
MMO means always less choice and always more costs!
that's what i'm talking about

in the current FPS games you have the choice of playing either single
or multi, and you choose, you have the choice, but with a MMO there is
none!

i never ever had the intention of telling gamers what to do! never!
what i want is pc gamers to decide with all the freedom and not let
anyone take away choice
steam means NO CHOICE
MMO means NO CHOICE
that's my opinion! please think about it and decide for yourself!

not relevant! cause mmo have TWO EXTRA COSTS!
one: mmo subscription
two: internet fees
so as you see mmo will never be free!
you will have to always PAY EXTRA COSTS!
is it cause we are using the internet at this moment that everyone
is blind to see we PAY for INTERNET?
mmo REQUIRES internet so it will always have EXTRA COSTS!

if you want to keep pc games affordable and cheap SAY NO TO MMO!

to play them you will have to pay more
to play mmo pc games you will have to pay more and its alot more not
a little cause you have the monthly fees for the game itself and the
costs of internet connection

my fear is developers seeing the mmo based games a mean to make more
money so they will invest more into it, so single-player games will
have less and less developers working on it, so less and less single
player games will be made and the ones made will have less quality
cause all the effort will be invested in mmo

play monthly fees and internet connection costs to play a FPS game,
but also single-player FPS games will be left behind cause developers
will want to invest more in a type of game that gives them more profit

i will never pay and play MMO for FPS, but the problem is if this new
kind will monopolize the FPS style

FPS has already multi-player capabilities in most games released so my
point is only one... RPG can gain from MMO, but FPS will not

for me FPS will not gain from MMO
for me FPS will loose if it becomes MMO
cause you will have to pay more without adding anything new

You really are a stupid idiot sometimes. Read what Mickey wrote:
"All the free MMORPGs presumable escaped your ill-informed attention
also. "

He is saying that you seem to not know about MMOs with NO SUBSCRIPTION.
There are some games with NO SUBSCRIPTION. Got that?

But, you obviously didn't understand that.

Secondly, you and me both use the internet for posting on this NG. I
pay monthly for my internet access. it doesn't matter if I download
movies all month, or if I go on holiday and don't even turn the
computer on - it costs me the same. So if I play a MMO, my internet
costs are the same as if I didn't - the MMO does not cost me anything
extra to play.

I understand it is different for you because you pay for each minute
you are online. But if you are saying "No to MMOs" because they have
internet costs, then you should also say "No to Newsgroups" for the
same reason. Please think about that last idea.

It's only an extra cost if you wouldn't have an internet connection
otherwise. If you bought a car you obviously need to buy petrol to make it
work, so yes that's an extra cost, but only some kind of idiot wouldn't
know about it and factor it into their buying decision.

So I've got a broadband internet connection ANYWAY, and I'm playing a free
MMORPG that I donwloaded and that doesn't have any fees at all. Howd'ya
like THEM apples?
