I have a Supermicro X10SLL-F Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard and i realized that it doesn't have a place for me to plug my hd audio wire into. my case, Deepcool TESSERACT SW RED ATX Mid Tower Case, has an hd audio wire only, no AC97 or anything else and I'm not sure what to do. As well as the case's fans that came pre-installed is a bit of a mystery for me. Please help.

I just found the thread where he recommended it to you. IMO it was not a good recommendation, as like I said the board is designed with features in mind for a server, and I apologize to you for the bad recommendation and hope you still trust us.

At this point since you have bought it, you may as well use it so you don't lose money in the process, and it can still work for you. You should just buy a sound card like:

You don't need anything fancy, this should do the job for you.

EDIT: If somehow you can return it without losing money then I can come up with a better board for you...
That motherboard is a server board, it doesn't have any onboard audio. You would need to buy a sound card to use that conenction.

That board is excellent for server purposes (I have the same one running my server with a Xeon E3-1231v3), but for desktop PC purposes is missing a lot of things like that that would make it "comfortable" as a consumer board. Heck I've never even hooked a monitor or keyboard to mine in its life, I use the IPMI port. What made you buy it?

It was suggested by another member on this forum. I should have done more research before buying it. could also be the reason why my power supply wires are having a hard time reaching the other side of the mobo. Any suggestion of if i should get a sound card or buy a new mobo? I'm using this pc foe game development. thanks

I plan on getting a new MOBO but ill have to save up for it. So a recommendation would be helpful. I also want to mention that with the MOBO i currently have, my power supplies 24 pin connector is a little to short. i can plug it in by going directly over the MOBO but it is putting tensing on the connector. same for a couple other wires. Thanks.

Man I'm really really sorry that happened. Yes the connector on this board is not in the normal spot its a bit further away. I just bought the same board literally a month and a half ago for my server, or I would buy it off you.

Anyway you would do well with this board, same size, has the features you need (audio) and the power connector is closer to the bottom:

so i did some research and i realized that not many mobo's support the xeon cpu that i bought. id love to get the board you suggested but i can't return my mobo or cpu. so I'm just gonna finish the build, sell it and build a new pc. this certainly has been a learning experience. and a tough one at that. thank you so much for your help.

Actually most do, however certain features in some cases are not supported. The board I gave you supports all the features of the E3-1231v3, which is essentially an i7-4770 without the integrated GPU.

Just wanted to throw that out there in case you change your mind and want to save a few bucks. You may even be able to sell the Supermicro board and get most of your money back, and for what you want to do the Xeon E3 is a perfect companion.

omg you are totally right, i just need to get new RAM. Possibly more ram for equal or even less $. I just need to figure out how to sell the mobo and ram i currently have. I'm not that good at selling things though. but that makes me so happy 😀 your awesome!

There is a classified section on here, you should do that first. You need to take a picture of the parts with a piece of paper with "Toms Hardware", your forum handle, and the date in the picture. And give it a price. Being that the stuff is basically new you can probably get close to retail for it. Maybe attach links to newegg too so people know the features.
