Hi,

I have a problem with my HDD I think. When I restarted my laptop today it wouldn't start up. The screen just stayed black. So I went into my bios and saw that my HDD was not being detected. Also in the boot menu I can't see the name of my HDD after HDD ATA. I tried using the troubleshooting option with a win10 installation usb, but none of the options, except for the cmd one, work. I don't know what to do anymore. Can someone please help me?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there ChaosHuntz,

That is really unpleasant.

You can attach the drive to another, working computer as a secondary one either externally (SATA to USB cable) or internally (SATA and power cables). Then, you can check BIOS and Disk Management out.
If the drive is not recognized once again, then I believe the drive has failed, as Multipack said. In that case, you can either RMA the drive or contact a data recovery company, if the data is really important.

Cheers,
