So I'm currently running on a pretty old mobo and apu. The mobo is an acer aahd3-vc. Currently using a a6 5400k. I can run the system just fine when using the apu's graphics and outputting from the mobo. But when I try using a graphics card, the system will start, all the fans run, keyboard and mouse lights enable, but no image to the monitor. The computer beeps two or three times. I think twice. Ram is in a1 and b1. No issues with ram when there's no gpu.

This exact combo of mobo and apu have run with graphics card before and so using one again shouldn't be an issue. I've already done the watch battery reset, and I've looked through the bios for anything that might indicate enabling the use of a graphics card vs onboard or apu. No option for that which I find odd. The power supply is fine and the cards fans run when in the pc, so i don't believe it's a faulty pcie port either. I've tried using a much smaller card than the current card I'm attempting to use and had the same issue, so I'm thinking it's nothing to do with the card itself.

I'm eventually going to replace the mobo and apu, but I'd like to have use of a graphics card until then. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi Benji_nil,

Here's some other beep codes:

Award and Phoenix BIOS:

1 short beep: Normal
2 short beeps: CMOS error
1 long and 1 short beep: DRAM error
1 long and 2 short beeps: Video card error
1 long and 3 short beeps: Keyboard error
1 long and 9 short beeps: ROM error
Long continuous beeps: DRAM not installed correctly
Short continuous beeps: Bad power supply

AMI BIOS:

1 short beep: DRAM flash error
2 short beeps: DRAM ECC check error
3 short beeps: DRAM detect error
5 short beeps: CPU error
6 short beeps: Keyboard error
8 short beeps: Video card error
9 short beeps: ROM error
1 long and 3 short beeps: Bad DRAM
1 long and 8 short beeps: Video card error

I am guessing, mismatch or incompatibility issue with your GPU.
